Clanwilliam Museum Newsletter December 2015

Clanwilliam Museum was the proud host of the 13th annual Symposium of the Heritage Association of South Africa. From the 15th till the 17th of October we were blessed to welcome members of HASA to our beautiful town, to educate them about and show them our heritage. From talks about indigenous plants and their value and flavours in the kitchen to historical walks through the town & lovely dinners held at the Ou Tronk and the historical Dutch Reformed Church, a big challenge but an even bigger success!! Commemorating the people of the Old Commonage and learning more about the story of a Clanwilliam Farm, each and every single person has walked away with more knowledge about our history and for us who stayed behind, it has thought us a thing or two, we are ready to take on the challenge of safekeeping our heritage for many generations to come. We would once again like to thank everyone who has been involved; HASA for bringing the Symposium to Clanwilliam; all the speakers that have shared their knowledge with us; Rooibos & Cederberg Wine for the candle light dinner at the DR Church; the museum committee and Emil for the Ou Tronk Dinner; Michaels On Park, Die Kunshuis, Rooibos Ltd., Reinholds Restaurant, Patrysvlei Farms & Travellers Rest Farm Stall and Restaurant for the use of their venues.
A profound moment of remembrance by Trevor Emslie. Read more…
